While you won’t see a big sign like the one in the picture, Wears Valley has a “secret” entrance to the Smoky Mountains National Park. Wears Valley is home to many locally owned country restaurants and grocery stores. A few being Elvira’s Cafe and Cades Cove Corner. You can buy local honey, homemade candy, boiled peanuts, pork rinds and much much more.
Wears Valley also hosts the Wears Valley Fall Fest every year. This is more than just a fall festival – it is a benefit to raise money for “Keep Sevier Beautiful”, which aims to make sure public places in the county are free of litter.
There are also many locally owned small businesses that sell mountain themed items like GSM Outfitters. If you’re on your way to the mountains, this is a great place to find all the equipment you might need while on the trail. Bonus: They also have a great coffee shop!
